Brunei SALEbration (Bsb) 2012 Starts Today, 26 November 2012
Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei – The Department of Economic Planning and Development (JPKE), Prime Minister’s Office organizes the ‘Brunei Salebration (BSb) 2012’, commencing today, 26 November 2012 until 13 January 2012.
According to the press release published by JPKE, the objective of the 49-day long BSb 2012 is to stimulate the country’s economic activities through attractive sales promotions and at the same time encourage members of the public, especially residents of Brunei Darussalam, to shop locally.
Like last year’s BSb, this year’s BSb 2012 concept, will also be focusing on weekly themes. The weekly themes are as follows:
- Textile Products and Services Week (26/11/12 – 02/12/12)
- Back to School Products and Services Week (03/12/12 – 09/12/12)
- Beauty, Health and Jewellery Products and Services Week (10/12/12 – 16/12/12)
- Home Décor Products and Services Week (17/12/12 – 23/12/12)
- Furniture Products and Services Week (24/12/12 – 30/12/12)
- Motor Vehicles Products and Services week (31/12/12 – 06/01/13)
- Electronics and Electrical Products and Services Week (07/01/13 – 13/01/13)
All participating outlets will be offering attractive discounts during these weekly themes throughout the period.
The press release further stated that all BSb participants will be offering discounts of at least 20% and above. A minimum of 60% of their stock on display at premises will be on sales, except for department stores, which will offer discounts by categories of products.
For the remaining 40% of stock, the discounts offered must be in the range of 10% to 20% with additional promotions such as purchase-with-purchase, free gifts, vouchers, coupons, etc.
Under the provision of the Price Control Act Section 142 Section 5, the price tag must be clearly displayed on all sale items. For BSb 2012, two (2) price tags must be displayed on all items being offered, showing the original and the discounted price.
Each participating outlet will receive a BSb 2012 participation certificate from JPKE, which must be clearly displayed at their business premises.
It is hoped that the public will support BSb 2012. At the same time, members of the public are reminded to be wise and prudent with their spending.

To facilitate our investigation, information such as shop name, type of goods, date of purchase as well as purchase receipt should be provided and all complaint forms must be signed.
