How To Unlock The Background (Layer) in Photoshop CS6

By on February 9, 2013 – Updated on February 9, 2013

When you open a photo in Photoshop CS6 or any other version   you can only see ‘Background’ in the Layers Window and this background is locked by default. The problem is that you cannot create transparent background of that photo if you won’t unlock it. Here’s how to do that.

On the Layers Window, right-click on the (1) background layer, select  (2) Layer from background… then simply click (3)OK on the New Layer pop up window OR double-click on the background layer then click OK on the New Layer pop up window. (See illustration above.)
